Reporting your OPT employment

After receiving your approval notice for Post Completion OPT from USCIS, you must report your employment to ISGSS immediately. You are still an F-1 student even though you are doing OPT. If you do not report to our office within 90 days after your approved OPT start date, your status will be terminated. If you cannot find a job within 90 days of the start of your OPT, then you must make plans to depart the US immediately or change to some other status in the US.

Please use the forms linked below to report any of the following:

  • First/ initial OPT employment report
  • Additional OPT employment report
  • Change of OPT employer
    • NOTE: Students cannot begin a new OPT employment on the last day of their OPT authorization as indicated on their EAD card.
  • Reporting a change to previously reported employment.

Steps:

  1. Work with your employer to complete the OPT & STEM OPT Employer Information Form
  2. Upload your documents to the ISGSS - OPT Employer Google Form linked below.
